Ukiyo-e translates into pictures of the floating world. Ukiyo-e was essential for the West’s perception of Japanese art in the late 19th century with corypaeus Hokusai and Hiroshige.

The therapeutic use of water has been recorded in ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations. Other cultures noted for a long history of hydrotherapy include China and Japan, the latter being centred primarily around Japanese hot springs or “onsen”.
